Heritage
Hailing from a family of professional flower breeders and sellers, Marcin Rusak had seen it all: his distant grandfather, spending sleepless nights preoccupied with cross-pollinating new varieties of orchids, roses and carnations; the ruins of greenhouses full of rust and rotting plants once the business collapsed at the turn of the new millenium; and, finally, the rebirth of the family's enterprise under the leadership of the new generation, including Marcin’s mother and sister. He himself has taken an entirely different route. Always seeking answers and solutions in nature, he had turned to science and the humanities before entering the path of his artistic career. His fascination with humans’ age-long inclination to floral ornamentation, joined with intense research into contemporary waste culture and the reality of the cut flower industry, had informed his practice ever since.
Unique Processes and Materials
Experimentating with waste flowers, first collected from London’s flower markets and then from befriended gardeners and event organisers, had led to the invention of new materials and creative processes aimed at exposing the transcient beauty of botanical matter and revolving around the notions of value, impermanence and preservation. Intense research and experimentation within the material realm had led to the development of Flora – our flagship material based on flowers and resin. Our studio has pioneered the method of infusing real, specially treated flowers in the resin, and has implemented the material in fully functional, collectable pieces of different scales and functions. Following almost alchemical processes, we have been applying industrial themocoating methods to hand-crafted unique objects, marrying hard science with artistic intituition.
Working with Us
With the botanical matter always at the core of the creative process, Marcin Rusak Studio has grown to encompass a variety of projects that span from conceptual research and material development, to unique collectable items, large-scale artistic installations and bespoke realizations made in collaboration with the world’s most sought-after interior architects, top collectable design galleries, well-established brands and prominent art institutions. Handmade in Europe, our pieces are available exclusively on a commission basis, in keeping with the premise that we do not add to the global overproduction of goods. The process of creating our pieces is extremely labour-intensive and time-consuming, as everything, from collecting and processing waste flowers, to casting the resin as well as metal- and woodworking is done by hand in our Warsaw studio and across a network of dedicated, seasoned craftspeople ready to deliver to the most demanding of clients.
Each year, only a limited number of our pieces leave our Warsaw studio to find a new, carefully selected home. When discussing your project, we are eager to propose an array of material and technical solutions, provide you with bespoke sketches and technical drawings, renderings and moodboards, and custom samples that will help envision your project. With full personal control over the creative and production processes, we are keen to work with you on an new creative adventure.

The Design Approach
Marcin Rusak’s designs emerge from his intuitive process, deeply influenced by experimentation with materials and his exploration of the natural world. Each piece reflects a dialogue between the organic and the human-made, shaped by his artistic journey.
Crafted by master artisans in Europe, our pieces are one-of-a-kind and may exhibit natural variations in colour and texture. These subtle differences add character and uniqueness to the handmade work. We embrace the passage of time and environmental factors as part of the creative process, while also ensuring that our materials can be restored or repurposed. -
