Process

Inspired by the desire to capture and preserve the perishable beauty of flowers, the Flora material combines natural material with resin to create functional and decorative objects that are both durable and timeless. The material acquires a special depth and the flowers infused in the resin float under a shiny surface. Everything from collecting and processing the botanic matter, encapsulating it in cast resin, to setting the material is done by hand in our studio.

FAQ

Our standard resin thickness is 35 mm. Depending on the project, we can modify the thickness on a case-by-case basis.
Flora is a versatile material that can be used in multiple contexts. The surface can be protected with an anti-scratch lacquer layer that is also heat- and UV-resistant. However, the material is not recommended for use in kitchens or bathrooms, as humidity might affect it.
The maximum panel size is 420 x 130 cm (13.7 x 4,27 ft). The panels can be matched seamlessly to achieve a monolithic surface with a continuous floral ornamentation.
For bespoke projects, we often create custom samples tailored to the client’s vision. We also maintain a collection of samples available for short-term loans. Please contact us at info@marcinrusak.com to learn more.
For regular maintenance, please use a slightly moist, ultrasoft microfibre cloth and water (please do not use paper towels, as this can scratch the resin). Never use acetone or other solvent-based products to clean, and treat the surface kindly like a lacquered piece of wood: do not put things that may scratch it, like pottery or sharp metals. We recommend using coasters and placemats for daily use.
