Process

Created from organic, biodegradable materials like waste flowers, shellac, beeswax and resin, the perishable sculptures are designed to eventually decay, blending into the natural environment they came from. Dependent on atmospheric conditions, including temperature changes, UV light and humidity, the brittle nature of the shellac-mix they are made of invites protection or assistance in its ever-evolving existence.

FAQ

The materiality of Nature of Things is defined by an alchemy of natural binders: tree resins, shellac, and waste flowers, which, depending on proportions, offer different textural surfaces.
Works from the Perishable Series are rather fragile and brittle, and should be kept away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and humidity.
Kept in a stable environment with room temperature and moderate humidity, the pieces are rather stable and retain their original shapes. Depending on their owner’s/custodian’s will, they can gradually transform when exposed to natural forces of heat or humidity.
