Vas Florum: 07 (Incubatorium Botanicum)

The Vas Florum series reinterprets the concept of the vessel and its relationship with flowers and their display. In each artwork, specially sourced flowers are embedded in the body of the form itself. Conceived as ‘time capsules’, each sculpture contains botanicals that resonate with individual and collective memories. The plants included in the sculpture, including blueweed, mullein, immortelle, thistle, linden, oak, and Canadian goldenrod, were sourced from Marcin Rusak Studio’s Incubatorium Botanicum, a botanical incubator located in a late Baroque villa in central Poland which functions as a laboratory and a showcase for Marcin’s work. When untamed and uncontrolled, they start to dominate the surroundings.
